We find that many companies in the public, banking and financial sectors, are in the “Blindfolded by Rules and Regulation” situation. Rules and regulations are a big barrier, one that blindfolds the company management and employees. This barrier keeps these companies tied to the ground, when they could be on their way up in the cloud. They are concerned with security and compliance and they don’t use cloud at all. And so their first choice is physical servers, but they will increase their public cloud usage within the next three years. Their IT department is competent, but focused on infrastructure, instead of development of new digital services. But they really feel a need for innovation and digital transformation. Their next step should be to do a cloud strategy roadmap, but if the numbing effect of rules and regulations is too strong, they might just do nothing at all.
